The Center for Competition Policy and Regulation (CPCR) organizes in collaboration with the Academic Network for the Defense of Competition (RADC) and the University of Barcelona (UB) the VIII Annual Conference of the RADC and the International Congress: "Between judges and authorities: The private and public application of Competition Law".

The event will take place on May 25th and 26th, 2023 in Barcelona.


The Center for Competition Policy and Regulation (CPCR), continues to develop different activities within the Jean Monnet Chair Single Market & Competition Law in the Digital and Ecological Transition Era, to promote reflection on competition law, together with major institutions such as the Academic Network for the Defense of Competition (RADC) and the University of Barcelona (UB).

On May 25 and 26 in Barcelona, the VIII Annual Conference of the ADRN and the International Congress: "Between Judges and Authorities: The private and public application of Competition Law", directed by Silvia Gómez Trinidad, professor of Commercial Law at the University of Barcelona (UB) and member of the Illustre Collegi d'Advocats de Barcelona, Jerónimo Maillo, coordinator of the Center for Competition Policy and Regulation (CPCR) of CEU San Pablo University, and Antonio Robles Martín-Laborda, President of the Academic Network for the Defense of Competition, Director of the Expert Course in Competition Law and the European Documentation Center of Carlos III University (UC3M). Javier Porras Belarra, Professor of European Union Law, International Public Law and International Relations at CEU San Pablo University, and Cristina Roy Pérez, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, will coordinate the course.

The conference will start on May 25th with a round table on procedural issues in the private application of Competition Law, with the participation of José María Fernández-Seijo, Magistrate of the 11th Section of the Commercial Court of Barcelona, Cristina Roy Pérez, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, Juan Arpio Santacruz, Professor at the University of Zaragoza, Marcos Araujo Boyd, Lawyer, PhD in Law, moderated by Carmen Herrero Suárez, Professor at the University of Valladolid.

The second-round table will continue to address substantive issues in tort actions, with Javier García-Verdugo, Director of the CNMC's Economic Advisory Office, Eduardo Pastor Martínez, Commercial Magistrate in Valencia, Silvia Gómez Trinidad, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, and Alfonso Rincón García-Loygorri, Partner at MLAB Abogados, moderated by Francisco Marcos Fernández, Professor at IE University.

The first day will continue with a round table on other key and/or recent issues of private enforcement, with the participation of Susana Grau Arnau, Director General of the Catalan Competition Authority, Jerónimo Maillo, Professor at the University CEU San Pablo, Fernando Díez Estella, Professor at Villanueva University, Javier Porras Belarra, collaborating Professor Doctor at the University CEU San Pablo, and moderated by Eugenio Olmedo Peralta, Professor at the University of Málaga. It will continue with a panel of doctoral students, composed of Elena Martín Serra, Fátima Gigirey, Ester Becerril Fernández, Ignacio Fornaris Valls, and Miquel Aznar Company. The day will end with a tribute to Prof. Antoni Font Ribas, with Professors Ricardo Alonso Soto, from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Julio Costas Comesaña, from University of Vigo, Juan Ignacio Ruiz Peris, from the University of Valencia, Luis Antonio Velasco San Pedro, from Valladolid University, and moderated by Silvia Gómez Trinidad, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona.

The day of May 26th will begin with a round table on the fifteen years of the LDC, balance, and perspectives, with Julio Costas Comesaña, Professor at the University of Vigo, Francisco Marcos Fernández, Professor at IE University, and Regina Helena Fonseca Fortes-Furtado, Associate Professor at the University of Oviedo. It will continue with a round table on the application of competition law, with Julia Ortega Bernardo, from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Maria Victoria Torre Sustaeta, from the European University of Madrid, and Marina San Martín Calvo, from the University of Burgos. The event will end with a round table on other developments in competition law, with Maria Teresa Franquet Sugrañes, from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Sara Louredo Casado, from the University of Vigo, and Maritza Iliana Núñez Osorio, from the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid.
